Research and Rise of the Megacorps

Have you ever heard of the term Megacorp? They are featured a lot in upcoming games Outer Worlds and Cyberpunk 2077. Megacorp is a term designated to a corporation which is herculean in size and impact. It is a duopoly of sorts, it has total control over the markets as well as the means of production as contrasted to monopoly in which the control is only over the markets. Megacorps are the future of our world. They will lead us into a new era of enlightenment. Saudi Aramco and East India Company are the examples of Megacorps. They control a lot of money which moves in the market. Thus, they also have  influence in government. 70% of tax collection of Saudi Arabia is from Saudi Aramco. East India Company made the British Empire the most glorious of its time in the world. Needless to say, Megacorps are a rare phenomenon.

I have an idea of a perfect Megacorp by design. A megacorp based on "Research", that is, such a corporation will be R&D based. It will do research and discover and invent various technologies. Thus, it will have control over the means of production, that is, the information which it it will discover through research. Also, because it is research based, it will have control over market of new innovative products which lead the development of technology. And it will be privately owned. So, the research it does will remain private. This idea is like the company owned by Tony Stark in Iron Man or the Umbrella Corporation shown in Resident Evil. Such corporations have always had huge impact on the path of history. If such a corporation comes into being, it will lead to huge advancements in technologies like interstellar colonization, technological singularity, time travel and genetics study. I myself will establish such a corporation one day if nobody else does. Such a corporation will provide research as a service and will deliver innovative products to market. Research areas to be dealt with can vary from cyber security to telecommunications to medical research to industrial design and manufacturing to business analysis to aerospace and aviation to banking. It is my ambition to see such a corporation come to life. Inception of such a corporation will lead to huge increase in GDP and unimaginable feats in development of technology. Organization of knowledge and production in industry like this will open up vast horizons. The current problems faced by the world like poverty and hunger or an impending world war will be the engines which drive such a corporation to solve these. Governments of today are not competent enough to solve such problems or drive such leaps in the technology, we already see it. A strong individual effort in this direction will surely be a new dawn.
